Winter Members' Preview

Members, please log in to claim your tickets.

MOCA Toronto welcomes you to our new 2019 (February-April) programming that explores the themes of our time. We are excited to present the video works of Chantal Akerman and Basma Alsharif. The artists share many concerns – geopolitical definitions, the collapsing of histories and how we form individual versus collective memory.

Akerman's exhibition is the first time that her work is being shown in a museum in Toronto.

Learn more about the artists:

  • Chantal Akerman
Akerman is known for her impact on feminist filmmaking and avant-garde cinema. Her filmography includes the masterpiece Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975), which she made when she was just 25 years old.
  • Basma Alsharif
Basma Alsharif’s exhibition intertwines four major works, each one presented as a staged setting. Using many different media, she takes us on journeys into the collective subconscious, exploring the tools we all use to understand the ghosts of history.

Tickets are available to MOCA members. If you are a member, please log in to add tickets to your cart. To become a member, join us here.

Artist, Student, Out of Town, and Individual members receive one (1) ticket to the preview. Dual, Engage and Immerse level members are permitted two (2) tickets. Please print out your ticket or have it available on your phone for entry.
